I have been enthusiastically promoting books and authors for almost two decades. Starting as an in-house publicist in early 2003, I began my career working on literary fiction and non-fiction, in a variety of genres and for a number of houses, including Viking/Penguin, Harcourt, Palgrave Macmillan, and my longest tenure at Grove/Atlantic, Inc. After leaving Grove, I switched over to working on children’s books, working for many years at both Random House Children’s Books and Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing, where I worked on everything from picture books and middle grade novels, to young adult books and well-known children’s brands.
Throughout my career, I have worked on all types of fiction, including commercial and literary fiction, mysteries, science fiction, and young adult. I also have extensive experience with non-fiction, from current affairs to politics, sports to celebrities. In addition to pitching books, I am adept at pitching authors as commentators for breaking news, helping authors shape and pitch op-eds and essays, and advising on brand building.
Some of the authors I have been privileged to work with throughout my long in-house career include: Temple Grandin, Dean Bakopoulus, General Wesley Clark, Karl Marlantes, Frank Deford, Brandon Sanderson, Judy Blume, Derek Jeter, former NASA astronaut Mark Kelly, and FOX & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt. In addition, I have worked on book projects and partnerships for such well-known brands as Magic Tree House, Disney, Peanuts, and Sony.
Following my career as an in-house publicist, I have worked with my friend and freelance colleague Michelle Blankenship of Blankenship Public Relations while also taking on independent projects under my own freelance banner. I work on both literary and commercial fiction and non-fiction, as well as YA and children's books. I look forward to working with you and bringing your book to its perfect audience!
